4: 1-1 tie vs Jason.
5: 2-1 loss to Nate
6: 3-0 loss to Colin
7: 3-2 win over Jon N.

With his first ever NHL action outside of the comforts of Finnish soil, Jonne didn't allow more than 3 goals in any game and finished the round robin with a 3-3-1 record and 7 points. Good for the 4th and final spot in the champions bracket.

Jon N:

1: 4-3 loss to Jason
2: 4-2 loss to Myles
3: 2-2 tie vs Nate
4: 5-3 loss to Colin
5: 3-0 win over Chris
6: 2-1 loss to Jon J
7: 3-2 loss to Jonne

A ton of close games but not much to show for it in terms of points. Jon was in every game but finished the round robin with a 1-5-1 record and 3 points. Jon N settled for 7th and a spot in the consolation bracket for the back-to-back consolation champ.

Myles:

1. 5-0 loss to Nate
2. 4-2 win over Jon N
3. 6-1 loss to Jonne
4. 2-1win over Jon J
5. 4-1 loss to Colin
6. 1-0 win over Chris
7. 2-1 loss to Jason

After 2 years without picking up a sega controller, Myles impressively finished the round robin with a 3-4 record, picking up 6 points. Barely missing out on the champions bracket after losing to Jason in the final game, Myles joined the consolation side as the top seed (5th) from group A.

Chris:

2. 10-1 loss to Colin
3. 1-1 tie vs Jon J
4. 9-0 loss to Nate
5. 8-1 loss to Jason
6. 1-0 loss to Myles
7. 3-0 loss to Jon N

Coming in with some momentum after last years tourney, Chris had a rough go in the round robin, finishing with 1 point and an 0-6-1 record. He entered the consolation bracket as the 8th seed.

3. 2-1 win over Jonne
4. 2-2 tie vs Jon N

6. 9-0 win over Chris
7. 1-1 tie vs Colin

After a disappointing '18, Nate came in ready to roll - accumulating 12 points and a 5-0-2 record. Needing to beat Colin in the final game to claim the 1-seed, Nate couldn't secure the win and had to settle for second place in group A.

Colin:

1. 13-1 win over Jon J
2. 10-1 win over Chris
3. 5-3 win over Jon N
4. 5-2 win over Jason
5. 4-1 win over Myles
6. 3-0 win over Jonne
7. 1-1 tie vs Nate

The defending champ steamrolled the competition early and accumulated a 6-0-1 record and 13 points. As the OE and 6.5% beer started coursing through his veins, the scores became a little closer. Colin avoided a scare vs Jon N and secured a crucial tie against Nate to obtain the number 1 seed.

Jason:

1. 4-3 win over Jon N
2. 5-1 loss to Nate
3. 5-2 loss to Colin
4. 8-1 win over Chris
5. 1-1 tie vs Jonne
6. 2-1 win over Myles
7. 2-1 win over Jon J

Participating in his first ever OE Cup, Jason had a tough draw early on. After getting warmed up, he picked up some crucial late wins on route to a 4-2-1 record and 9 points. Grabbing the 3rd seed, Jason was on to the Championship bracket, a nice accomplishment in and of itself.

3. 5-4 loss to Nate

Dasri:

1. 6-2 loss to Sean
2. 4-0 win over Stefan
3. 4-0 win over Ian
4. 5-3 loss to Juha
5. 7-1 loss to Shawn B
6. 1-1 tie vs Shawn K
7. 1-1 tie vs Marc

An up and down round robin for Dasri. Getting blown out by Sean to start things off, Dasri rebounded with a rout of Stefan. He was on the verge of cracking the top 4 but alas, he couldn't manage to win his last two games. Dasri settled for 6 points on a 2-3-2 record, good for 5th place.

Sean:

1. 6-2 win over Dasri
2. 7-0 win over Ian
3. 4-3 loss to Stefan
4. 5-0 win over Marc
5. 1-1 tie vs Shawn K
6. 4-1 loss to Shawn B
7. 1-1 tie vs Juha

It came down to the last game but Sean was only able to get a tie vs Juha. An earlier 1 goal loss to Stefan proved to be a crucial one as Sean tied his longtime nemesis with 8 points. Collins' 3-2-2 record was only good for 4th place in the group of death - disappointing after his red hot run in 2018.

Stefan:

1. 4-1 win over Marc
2. 4-0 loss to Dasri
3. 4-3 win over Sean
4. 6-1 win over Shawn K
5. 2-0 loss to Juha
6. 4-1 win over Ian
7. 3-0 loss to Shawn B

With 4 wins and 3 losses, Stefan did just enough to advance to the Championship round and avoid a Quarterfinal matchup with Colin. Tying Sean with 8 points, Stefan won the head-to-head tiebreaker and secured 3rd place in group B.

Ian:

1. 2-1 loss to Shawn B
2. 7-0 loss to Sean
3. 4-0 loss to Dasri
4. 6-0 loss to Juha
5. 4-1 loss to Stefan
6. 2-1 loss to Shawn K
7. 1-0 loss to Marc

A round robin to forget. Ian, perplexed with the amount of Shawn's popping up in seemingly every matchup, never found his goal scoring prowess. His 0-7 record was good for 8th place in pool B and a matchup with his sworn nemesis Myles, in the Consolation bracket.
Juha:

1. 5-1 win over Shawn K
2. 6-0 win over Marc
3. 6-2 loss to Shawn B
4. 5-3 win over Dasri
5. 6-0 win over Ian
6. 2-0 win over Stefan
7. 1-1 tie vs Sean

Juha was able to adjust to the Canadian Sega paddles without a hitch and he accumulated a 5-1-1 record in a very difficult group. Getting beat by Shawn B insured Juha would finish no higher than second, and with 11 points, that is where he indeed ended up.

Shawn K:

1. 5-0 loss to Juha
2. 7-0 loss to Shawn B
3. 4-2 win over Marc
4. 6-1 loss to Stefan
5. 1-1 tie vs Sean
6. 1-1 tie vs Dasri
7. 2-1 win over Ian

Arriving a bit late, the first two losses were accumulated by spectators filling in. It's unfortunate because Shawn K proved to be a solid competitor. He got a point off Sean for what seemed to be the 3rd straight year and overall, finished with 6 points and a 2-3-2 record. Shawn K slid into 6th place in group B.

Marc:

1. 4-1 loss to Stefan
2. 6-0 loss to Juha
3. 4-2 loss to Shawn K
4. 5-0 loss to Sean
5. 1-1 tie vs Dasri
6. 6-1 loss to Shawn B
7. 1-0 win over Ian

Marc couldn't compete with the top guys but he put up a good fight against the other bottom 3 from group B. After tying Dasri and ruining his chances of advancing to the Championship round, Marc snuck by Ian and secured 7th place with a 1-5-1 record.

Shawn B:

1. 2-1 win over Ian
2. 7-0 win over Shawn K
3. 6-2 win over Juha
4. 7-1 win over Dasri
5. 4-1 win over Sean
6. 6-1 win over Marc
7. 3-0 win over Stefan

A flawless round robin for Shawn B, as he steamrolled the competition on route to a 7-0 record and a round robin best 14 points. Ian gave him his biggest challenge but Shawn appeared to be rounding into form heading into the Quarterfinals.

Final Round Robin Results:

1. Shawn B - 14 points
2. Juha - 11 points
3. Stefan - 8 points
4. Sean - 8 points
5. Dasri - 6 points
6. Shawn K - 6 points
7. Marc - 3 points
8. Ian - 0 points

Consolation Bracket
Quarterfinals (2 out of 3)
Myles (5) vs Ian (8)

The classic matchup. Myles vs Ian. Ian vs Myles. Two bitter rivals who have faced off numerous times in the OE Cup, each winning their share of games. In 2019, it looked like Myles had a big advantage after the round robin. Game 1 set the tone as Ian shut out Myles 2-0. The Beer man stormed back in game 2 with a hard fought 4-3 win and we were off to a deciding game 3. 1-0 Ian! Did he throw the round robin to secure a matchup with Myles? We'll never know.

Shawn K (6) vs Jon N (7)

After a disappointing round robin, Jon N went to his secret weapon - Buffalo vs Pittsburgh. Knowing that no competitor could resist the charm of playing with Jagr and Lemieux, Jon repeatedly chose this matchup throughout the consolation stage. It resulted in a 2 game sweep, 3-1 and 5-4.

Dasri (5) vs Chris (8)

After just missing out on the Championship bracket, Dasri took out his frustration on Chris. He dominated from the get go, winning 7-0 in game 1 and again shutting out Chris 3-0 in game two.

Jon J (6) vs Marc (7)

These evenly matched competitors played a tight 3-game series. Jon J took game one, 2-1 and Marc won a do-or-die game two, 3-2. Would Jon J fall early for the second year in a row? It was not to be, as he stormed through with a 3-0 win in the deciding game 3.

Semifinals (2 out of 3)
Ian (8) vs Jon N (7)

Both Ian and Jon upset the higher seed in the quarters and this looked to be an even matchup on paper. However, Ian fell into the Pittsburgh trap and Jon N ran away with the series - shutting Ian out in both games. 4-0 and 3-0.

Dasri (5) vs Jon J (6)

After making quick work of Chris in the Quarters, Dasri busied himself playing spike ball by the pool. Not preserving energy for a finals push was a risky move. Would he be too tired for his next match? It turns out, no. Game 1 was a defensive struggle and Dasri scraped by 2-1. Game 2 was another close one but Jon J couldn't muster enough offense and his dreams of a consolation championship were dashed with a 3-1 loss.
Consolation Finals (3 out of 5)
Jon N (7) vs Dasri (5)

Jon N tried the old Pittsburgh vs Buffalo trick in game one but Dasri didn't take the bait. This left Jon using Ulf Samuelsson to try to contain Mogilny and Lafontaine - an impossible task. Dasri took the first two games, 3-1 and 2-0. Jon N squeaked out a 1-0 win in game three, but Dasri proved to be too much. He took game four 2-1 and the series three games to one. Dasri, the 2019 Consolation Champ!

Championship Bracket
Quarterfinals (2 out of 3)
Colin (1) vs Sean (4)

The championship matchup of '18 (Colin won 4 games to 1), only this time in the quarterfinals. Colin came into the quarters red hot and snuck out a 2-0 win in game 1. Game 2 was completely different as Colin dominated from the get go - running up the score on route to a 9-2 win.

Juha (2) vs Jason (3)

Two newcomers who had a strong round robin, this matchup looked to be a toss up. Juha took game one 4-0 behind aggressive chants of SU-OH-MI , SU-OH-MI. Canadians are still trying to figure out what that means to this day.. Jason battled in game two but again came up short, 3-1. Juha advanced to Semis - much to the delight of the Finnish contingent.

Shawn B (1) vs Jonne (4)

As SUOMI echoed throughout Waterloo, the crowds gathered for the next matchup, wondering if Finland could place 2 competitors in the semifinals. However, the chants quickly died off as Shawn B dominated from puck drop, winning game one 6-2 and game two 8-1. Jonne, unable to adjust to the North American diet of pizza and beer, quickly found a nearby hammock and settled for dreaming of '95 glory.

Nate (2) vs Stefan (3)

Seemingly playing every year in the quarterfinals, Nate and Stefan were set to do battle again. Nate won last years matchup in a close 3-game series and both competitors anticipated a long series (in sega terms). True to form, game one went to OT and Stefan pulled out a 3-2 win. Nate bounced back in game two and won convincingly 4-1. The deciding game 3 saw Stefan choose Chicago vs Chicago. A defensive struggle from the outset, Stefan scored the first and only goal in the second period and hung on for the 1-0 win. Great series.

Semifinals (3 out of 5)
Colin (1) vs Juha (2)

Colin came into the semis without a loss and only one tie while Juha had only lost one game in the round robin. The crowds gathered to see a heavyweight showdown. However, game one was an utter domination as Colin won 7-2. Juha, a bit shaken, decided to muck it up in game 2 by choosing Anaheim vs Ottawa. While a sound strategy, it still wasn't enough as Colin pulled away 4-1. As the SUOMI chants faded into the distance, Colin completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory in game three. The defending champ was back in the finals.

Shawn B (1) vs Stefan (3)

Shawn, entering undefeated and having not really been tested since his first game against Ian, set the early tone with a 5-2 game one win. In game 2, he got off to a quick 3-1 lead and was in cruise control but Stefan roared back - evening the series with a 4-3 OT win. Shawn's response was to double down on the 6.5% keg and repeatedly slander the band, No Doubt. Game three saw Stefan jump out to an early lead and hang on for a 3-1 win. Just 20-minutes earlier, it looked like yet another Colin vs Shawn B finals was upon us - now he was down 2-1! Game four was a focused defensive struggle and although Bell was squinting and showing signs of inebriation, he managed to gut out a 2-1 win. The fifth and deciding game was not even close. Stefan got out to an early lead and piled up the goals on route to a 5-1 demolition. On to the finals!

Finals (3 out of 5)
Colin (1) vs Stefan (3)

Colin, still undefeated in the tournament vs Stefan, battle tested and already victorious in two do-or-die games.
The bets came in evenly as Stefan appeared to have reached another level.

Game 1: A high scoring game that was very evenly played. Colin eventually pulled out a 4-3 OT win. That seemed like a missed opportunity for the underdog.

Game 2: Almost identical to game 1, this one also went into OT tied 3-3. However, this time Stefan emerged victorious - evening the series at one game apiece.

Game 3: Flummoxed by Stefan's unorthodox attack, the tide seemed to have turned in the series. Both players couldn't muster any offense , but Stefan managed just enough for a 2-1 OT win. All three games went to OT and Stefan was one win away from having to house a large poisonous trophy for one year.

Game 4: Colin came out focused and got out to a crucial early lead. He extended it in the second period and although Stefan made a game of it, Colin won fairly comfortably 4-2.

Game 5: Having already taken down the Bell brothers in deciding games, Stefan had to have been feeling confident going into the finale. It was not to be. Colin jumped on him early and held on for a 4-2 win, securing back-to-back OE Cups! Two years in a row, Colin has come back from the brink of elimination to eventually be crowned the champ. The masses are coming..

Final Results
1. Colin - Virtually untouched until the finals, Colin accumulated a 14-2-1 record throughout the tournament. For the second straight year, Colin was able to fend off elimination on route to his 6th OE CUP!

2. Stefan - Consistently came through in the clutch, first beating Nate in a do-or-die game and then besting Shawn B in a deciding game 5. Stefan's luck finally ran out in the final game vs Colin but it was a tremendously successful tournament nonetheless.

3. Juha - Was able to take the bronze medal back to Finland after sweeping a blacked out Bell in the 3rd place game. Juha accumulated a 10-4-1 record overall and will look to master manual goaltending before the 2020 Toronto showdown.

4. Shawn B - After walking through the round robin and handedly sweeping Jonne, Bell ended the tournament losing his last 4 games as he proved to be no match for the 6.5% keg. Overall, he disappointingly finished with an 11-6 record and outside of the top 3 for the first time ever.

5. Nate - Was looking great after the round robin but ran into a red hot Stefan in the quarters and was eliminated early. Nate eventually beat rival Sean Collins in the 5th place match to somewhat salvage the tournament. He ended with a 10-3-2 record.

6. Sean - Coming off his 2nd place finish in '18, Sean finished a disappointing 6th. Saddled with organizing the event, Sean's practice time lagged in the lead up to the tournament. After losing the Colin in the quarters, Sean beat Jason before losing to Nate. He finished with a 6-7-2 record.

7. Jason - Participating for the first time at the OE Cup, Jason's tournament was undoubtedly a success. He made the championship round and put up a good fight against Juha before losing a close 3-game series to Sean Collins. Unfortunately, Jonne was passed out so Jason took 7th place without a fight. Jason finished 7-6-1.

8. Jonne - Started off the tournament by beautifully belting out the lyrics to the Finnish national anthem and put up some good battles throughout the round robin. After his defeat to Shawn B in the quarters, Jonne decided to call it an early night to ensure his internal clock would stay on Finnish time. A true patriot. Jonne finished the tournament with a 3-9-1 record.

9. Dasri - Had a pretty solid round robin, just missing out on the championship round. Dasri proved to be a cut above the consolation bracket as he steamrolled the competition on route to a consolation title. Overall, a very solid performance and he put himself on notice for 2020. Dasri finished with an impressive 9-4-2 record.

10. Jon N - After back-to-back consolation titles, Jon N made another valiant push late in the tournament. A slow round robin proved to be a fluke as Jon charged forward - only to fall to Dasri in a hard fought series. Jon N finished the tournament with a 6-8-1 record.

11. Jon J - Jon J was on the verge of the championship bracket but fell a few points short. After losing to Dasri, Jon J managed to beat Ian for 11th, finishing 1 spot behind Jon N for the second straight year. His final record was a very respectable 6-7-1.

12. Ian - After a career best 7th in 2018, Ian came in expecting big things. It turned out to be a complete disaster of a tournament EXCEPT Ian beat Myles - which is really all that matters. Even though Ian ended the tournament with a 2-12 record, his two wins came against Myles. Success.

13. Myles - After two years without picking up a controller, Myles had a surprisingly successful round robin. Although he fell short, he looked to be in prime position to compete for the consolation title. However, he ran into Ian. After a devastating loss to his main rival, Myles somehow regrouped to beat Jordan and Marc to end the tournament with a solid 8-6 record.

14. Marc - Lost a tough series to Jon J in the consolation quarters but Marc regrouped by beating Chris. Although he lost to Myles to end the tourney, Marc showed improvement and finished with a record of 4-9-1. A definite improvement from his last place finish in '18.

15. Shawn K/ Jordan - Shawn K had a solid round robin and looked to be a prime contender to take home the consolation championship. However, he lost his first matchup to Jon N and proceeded to flee the scene. Thankfully Jordan was able to step away from 'spike ball' domination to salvage the tournament, snagging the 'not last' medal in the process. Shawn K ended up 2-5-2 while Jordan finished 2-2.

16. Chris - After avoiding last place in '18, Chris found himself back down at the bottom. It was a rough tournament right from the start as he finished with a 1-12-1 record. He did consume copious amounts of keg beer.
